Rooted in Prayer: Fasting and the Hunger for God
Mar 8, 2026 • Joel Heiney
This week's Rooted Hope series focuses on fasting as one of the oldest and most neglected practices in the Christian life. When our lives are packed full of noise, comfort, and distraction, we lose our appetite for God without even realizing it. Pastor Joel walked through three reasons we fast: for God's presence, for power over hidden unbelief, and for the mission of the kingdom. When we empty ourselves through fasting and prayer rooted in hope, we make room to receive what Jesus died to give us, and we become a church where the Spirit can actually move.
